Sclerotherapy involves injecting a chemical solution directly into the varicose or spider vein. The solution causes the vein walls stick together and seal shut, stopping the flow of blood. As a result, the vein fades within a few weeks. The full effect and benefit of treatment usually take several weeks. For this reason, we recommend waiting 2-3 weeks in between sclerotherapy treatments. Sclerotherapy is most effective on veins that are small and near to the surface of the skin.
